Hospitals across Northwestern Ontario are about to start on a project that will improve the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare across our region. Together, we are updating our shared electronic health record system.
Electronic health records, sometimes called EHRs, are essentially a digital version of a patient’s paper chart. EHRs store and manage health information electronically, making it easier for hospitals to communicate about and coordinate a patient’s care. The record itself provides comprehensive view of a patient’s medical history, treatments, medications, test results, and other healthcare data, making it accessible to authorized healthcare providers.
This project will start in summer of 2025, and will be completed in 2027.
